Abstract

PURPOSE:To reject noise and to achieve excellent reproducing signal, by mechanically or magnetically braking a capstan shaft or motor rotating shaft only at reverse braking of a motor driving a magnetic tape run capstan shaft. CONSTITUTION:A magnet 23 of ring shape constituting a rotating magnetic field is opposed to an armature coil 24 axially, which is fixed on a stator magnetic plate 203 with a position sensor 27 (Hall element). A braking mechanism 4 is provided at the side of a rotating magnetic plate 200 being at an orthogonal plane to the capstan shaft 20, and a support metal fixture 42 providing a brake pad 43 is freely rotatably fitted to a still shaft 46. If a solenoid 41 is not excited, the fixture 42 is drawn to a dotted position with a spring 44, and when the solenoid 41 is excited, it is drawn to the spring 45, the metal fixture 42 is moved to the position of solid lines, and the pad 43 touches the plate 200 with a specified force.
