Abstract
PURPOSE:To improve the initial magnetizing characteristics and to reduce the variance in reproduced output, by using a metallic magnetic thin film having at least two layers which have easy magnetizing axis with different directions to be crossed at a specific angle. CONSTITUTION:At least, two layers of ferromagnetic metal thin films 2, 3 are provided on a base 1, and easy magnetization axis lines 4, 5 drawn on the base of each layer are crossed at 30-70 deg. angle theta, by clipping a straight line 6 coincident with the lengthwise direction of the base. Either of easy magnetizing axis of each layer has >=50 deg. angle to the normal of the base member. Further, in manufacturing this magnetic recording medium, it is preferable to perform by a high-vaccum ion plating method.
