Abstract
PURPOSE: An epoxy phenolic paint for the inner surface of a can with excellent extructability, comprising a bisphenol A type epoxy resin and a phenolic resin obtd. by the condensation of a composition primarily composed of a methylated phenol in the presence of a basic catalyst.
CONSTITUTION: In a paint for the inner surface of a can contg. a product prepd. by admixture or precondensation of 40W90wt% bisphenol A type epoxy resin with 10W60wt% phenolic resin, a phenolic resin contg. at least 50wt% phenolic resin obtd. by the condensation of a composition of phenol content ≤5wt% primarily composed of a methylolated phenol in the presence of a basic catalyst is used as said phenolic resin. At a proportion of the epoxy resin to the phenolic resin of higher than said volue, sufficient curability is not obtd. resulting in deterioration of water resistance and corrosion resistance, while at a proportion lower than said volue, the formed coat is hard, resulting in deterioration of workability and adhesion to a metal ground.
