Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable selection of either a matrix type printing or a dot printing according to the purpose by a method wherein a compound hammer is provided in which a hammer for a matrix type printing and a head for a dot printing are incorporated in a unitary body. CONSTITUTION:In the matrix type printing, types on the type head 12 are selected by the rotation of a motor 26, positioned vertically by a shift motor 28 and impacted by a type hammer 53 on the back side thereof for printing. In the dot printing, the type head 12 is retreated by the motor 28 from the compound hammer 13 and a plurality of print wires 71 are selected for printing. Besides, the dot printing can be performed by using a daisy wheel type head or using a cut out which is made by cutting out a part of the type portion on a finger. Accordingly, type printing and dot graphic display, etc. can be performed by a single printer.
