Abstract

PURPOSE:To ensure the lubrication of each part of a moving valve mechanism through a simple construction, by providing a series of lubricating oil supply passages which extend through the mutual contact portions of the cnstituent elements of the moving valve mechanism and by connecting the oil passages to an oil pump. CONSTITUTION:An oil pump sucks up lubricating oil from an oil pump 54 and supplies some of the oil to the oil hole 57 of a follower shaft 25. The lubricating oil flowing through a series of oil supply passages 64 made of oil holes 57-63 lubricates the mutual contact parts of the follower shaft 25, an intake rocker follower 26, a push rod 30, a rocker 33 and a rocker shaft 32 while an appropriate quantity of the oil is leaking from the mutual contact parts. The lubricating oil flowing through a series of oil passages 70 made of oil holes 57, 58, 65, 67- 69, the first oil chamber 44 and an oil leakage gap 66 lubricates the mutual contact parts of the follower shaft 25, an exhaust rocker follower 27, tappets, a push rod 31, a rocker arm 34 and the rocker shaft 32 while an appropriate quantity of the oil is leaking from the mutual contact parts.
