Abstract
PURPOSE: The titled insect repellent, consisting of a polymeric aqueous solution of a polymer having substantially no insecticidal ability in the essential constituent component of the solid content, and capable of controlling wood injurious insects by applying to a tree bark without adversely affecting the growth of the living trees and causing the environmental pollution, and suitable for useful kinds of forest trees.
CONSTITUTION: An insect repellent consisting of an aqueous solution of a polymer having substantially no insecticidal ability in the essential constituent component in the solid content, e.g. (meth)acrylic or vinyl acetate resin, and suitable for living trees of useful kinds of forest trees. The polymeric aqueous solution contains 0.1W80wt%, preferably 1W30wt%, solid, and has the film-forimg ability at ordinary temperature. The preferred form of the polymeric aqueous solution is an emulsion prepared by the emulsion polymerization of a polymerizable monomer in water or a mixed system of the water with a hydrophilic organic solvent in the presence of a surfactant and a catalyst.
