Abstract
PURPOSE:To turn ON or OFF a GTO thyristor by utilizing DC voltage from two rectifying circuits connected to the output coils of a transformer connected to a single power source. CONSTITUTION:Signals (a), (b) are applied to transistor S11, S12 during the ON period of a GTO thyristor, rectangular AC output generated at the secondary coil W2 of a transformer GT1 is rectified by diodes D1, D2, and the rectified current is supplied as an ON gate current ION to the gate of the thyristor. On the other hand, a rectangular AC output generated at the tertiary coil W3 is charged to a capacitor C through a diode D3, and a signal (c) is applied to a transistor S2 in case that the thyristor is turned OFF, an OFF current IOFF is supplied to the gate of the thyristor through a transformer GT2 and diodes D4, D5.
