Abstract

PURPOSE:To provide less costly color video tubes offering a sharp contrast by coating only a blue color phosphor with a black color absorbing material. CONSTITUTION:Gold, copper, aluminum activated blende green phosphor, siver activated blende blue phosphor coated with 1.0wt% graphite, and europium activated oxysulphide yttirium red phosphor were covered with green, blue and red luminous elements by means of the known photoprinting method and formed to produce a sharp contrast color video tube according to the present invention. Blue luminous phosphor coated a 2.0wt% black iron oxide in place of graphite was used. As a result, in comparison with the conventional sharp contrast color video tubes, the brightness of the blue luminous element was 80%, while its contrast was equal. The current contributory ratios of green, blue and red colors were respectively 38%, 32% and 30%, which had been considerable improved comparing with 40%, 27%, 33% before. 1, 2, and 3 in the figure represent green, blue and red luminous elements; while 4, 5 and 6 are a black matrix, phosphor and a pigment, respectively.
