Abstract
PURPOSE:To prepare a vessel made of polyethylene terephthalate, having excellent heat shrinkage resistance, good appearance and high clarity, and suitable as a food container, etc., by drawing a perform made of a specific polyeser compounded with montan wax. CONSTITUTION:A polyester having an intrinsic viscosity of >=0.55 and composed of ethylene terephthalate as a main recurring unit, is compounded with a compound selected from a montan wax acid, neutral or partly neutralized montan wax acid metal salt (esp. sodium salt) and neutral or partly esterified montan wax ester salt. The amount of the additive is 0.005-1wt% of the polyester. A preform made of the composition is drawn (1.2-4 times) longitudinally at a drawable temperature and expanded (2-10 times) laterally by blowing to obtain a vessel at least a part of which is biaxially oriented. The blow mold temperature of the body is 50-180 deg.C and the thickness of the body part is made <=1/4 of the corresponding part of the preform. The light transmission of the body part is >=50%.
