Abstract

PURPOSE:To decrease weight of a brake pad backing metal and impart enough strength, corrosion resistance and damping quality of vibration, by using fiber reinforced compound plastic, strengthened by cut and continuous fibers, for the pad plate backing metal of a brake. CONSTITUTION:A reinforcing fiber 8 in a long fiber state for reinforcement is provided around a center core eyelet part 5, and its end part is extended to another end part of a pad plate backing metal 1, then long fiber state reinforcing fibers 9, 10 are arranged from a shoulder part of the pad plate backing metal 1 along its side face. In manufacture, a sheet state intermediare member 16, consisting of reinforcing fiber cut in a short fiber state and matrix, is inseted into a metal mold having protrusions 13, 14, 15, then a prepreg 17, impregnated with a matrix to the reinforcing fiber in a long fiber state, is arranged, further a sheet state intermediate member 20 is laminated to sandwich shape, heated and pressurized.
