PURPOSE:To eliminate an additional power source economically by using a storage battery itself as a power source of a light emitting element when a liquid level of a storage battery is detected with the light emitting element and an optical fiber. CONSTITUTION:A light emitting element 1 is connected to a storage battery electrode 2 through a switch SW, when necessary, the light emitting element 1 is lit, and the light is reflected by a liquid surface 3 through an optical fiber 6, the reflected light is observed with an eye 10 through an optical fiber 7. Therefore, when a liquid level increases to a level 4, no reflected light is observed, when the liquid level decreases to a level 3, the reflected light can be detected. Since the power source of the light emitting element 1 is obtained from the storage battery itself, the additional power source is unnecessary, and the length of an optical fiber cable from the light emitting element to the liquid level can be shortened economically.
