Abstract
PURPOSE:To send cooling water in the state of forced vortex in order to reduce the pressure loss due to back flow and consequently make the pumping installation small by a method wherein blade members are provided at the end surfaces facing to the inlet and outlet ports of an inner tube arranged concentrically to an outer tube. CONSTITUTION:The outer tube 5 equipped with the inlet port 9 and outlet port 10 of the cooling water rotates on its own axis. The inner tube 6, respectively at the end surfaces facing to the inlet port 9 and to the outlet port 10 of which impellers 7 and 8 with blades of same shape are fixed firmly, is arranged inside of and concentrically to the outer tube 5. As a result, the cooling water enters in the cooled roll from the inlet port 9 of the roll, flows through the passage formed between the outer tube 5 and the inner tube 6 and discharges from the outlet port 10. At this time, the cooling water entering the colled roll is sent in the state of forced vortex produced by the impeller 7 and discharged also in the state of forced vortex changed from the state of free vortex generated in the passage between the outer and inner tubes 5 and 6 by the impeller 8.
