Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain a molded product with enhanced heat resistance, mechanical characteristics, hydrolysis resistance, etc., by use of a compound obtd. by compounding a specified epoxy compd. with a saturated polyester containing an alkali metal halide dispersed therein.
CONSTITUTION: In 100pts.wt. saturated polyester, about 0.005W0.15wt%, based on the total acid component constituting the polyester, alkali metal halide such as sodium iodide is dispersed. Then the purpose molded product is obtd. by the addition of about 0.1W10pts.wt. at least one epoxy compd. such as N-glycidyl-phthalimide or N-glycidyl-α-ethylsuccinimide, having an imide-bonded glycidyl group of formula I or II (wherein R1 is halogen, 1W6C alkyl or alkoxy; m is 0W4; R2, R3, R4 and R5 are each H or 1W6C alkyl), followed by melt molding.
