Abstract
PURPOSE: A direct-current driving type liquid crystal display element in which an electric charge transfer complex incorporating into-9-fluorenone as an electron acceptor is mixed with a liquid crystal and which has a long life and excellent display perforance and utilizes a dynamic scattering effect.
CONSTITUTION: An electric charge transfer complex in which an electron acceptor comprising mononitro-dinitro-or trinitro-9-fluorenone represented by the formula, where m+n=1W3, is combined with an electron donor selected from among metallocene derivatives (e.g. di-n-butylferrocene), phenylenediamines (e.g. N,N,N',N'-tetraphenyl-phenylenediamine) and the like is mixed with a liquid crystal (e.g. a dicaxboxylic acid ester, a cyclohexylbiphenyl-cyclohexane or a phenyl dialkylbenzoate) to provide a liquid crystal display element.
EFFECT: A liquid crystal system having a life of at least three years can be obtained.
