Abstract

PURPOSE: A glass surface is partially impregnated with ions to develop the effect of forming partially cloudy part and clear parts distinctly.
CONSTITUTION: A surface of inorganic glass is impregnated with ions of at least one kind of, e.g., N, Si or B by means of an ion-implantation unit partially by 1×1013W5×1017ion/cm2. The parts impregnated with ions form the cloudy parts. For example, one side surface of a glass disk is impregnated with about 5×1016ion/ cm2 N ion and the other surface is masked with aluminum foil on the peripheral part leaving the center part and impregnated with ions in the same manner. When the resultant glass is made cloudy, the peripheral part becomes cloudy, leaving the center part clear.
