Abstract

PURPOSE:An oil-in-water type cosmetic that contains an emulsifier free from skin irritation, consisting of an alpha-mono(methyl branched-alkyl)glyceryl ether and a hydrophilic surface active agent, and a cosmetic oil base, thus exerting high emulsion stability with a less amount of emulsifier. CONSTITUTION:The titled cosmetic contains 5-100pts.wt. of an emulsifier consisting of (A) a glyceryl ether of formulaI(R is 12-24C methyl branched saturated hydrocarbon group) and of (B) a hydrophilic surface active agent of 10 or more HLB at a weight ratio of 90/10-5/95 and 100pts. of a cosmetic oil base. Component A is an emulsifier causing no skin irritation and the combination with component B gives the titled cosmetic with very high emulsion stability even in a small amount of the emulsifier. R in formulaIis preferably formula II (m is 2-14; n is 4-10; m+n is 9-21). Component B is, e.g., polyoxyethylene and the cosmetic oil base is, e.g., squalane.
