Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a photoconductive member free from optical fatigue and residual potential by forming a photoconductive layer made of amorphous Si contg. H or halogen and an intermediate layer made of B atom-base amorphous material contg. halogen on a support. CONSTITUTION:A photoconductive member 100 is composed of a support 101, an intermediate layer 103 and a photoconductive layer 102. The support 101 may be an electric conductor or an insulator, and it is made of NiCr, stainless steel, Al, Cr, Mo, polyester, polyethylene, polycarbonate or the like. The layer103 is formed by glow discharge, and it is made of amorphous material (alpha-BxX1-x) contg. boron atoms and halogen (X=F, Cl, Br or I) atoms. The layer 102 is made of amorphous silicon such as p type alpha-Si: H, p type alpha-Si(H,X), n type alpha-Si(H,X) or i type alpha-Si(H,X).
