Abstract
PURPOSE: To prevent the freezing without requiring energy consuming auxiliary apparatuses and improve the thermal efficiency by a method wherein antifreeze is mixed with circulating liquid, which circulates between the cooling tower and a material to be cooled, or said circulating liquid is replaced by the antifreezing solution when the outside temperature is low.
CONSTITUTION: The circulating liquid 20 is sent with a pump 18 to the cooling tower 14, within which the heat held by the circulating liquid 20 is radiated to the outside air by sprinkling water or blasting air over the heating surface 30 of a circulating liquid piping 16. The circulating liquid 20 cooled in such a manner as described above is again sent back through the circulating liquid piping 16 to the side of the material to be cooled 12 in order to absorb the heat held by the material to be cooled 12 through a heating surface 30A so as to cool the material to be cooled 12 and, after that, sent into the cooling tower 14 again. When the outside temperature is abnormally low, the antifreeze is mixed from an expansion tank 46 with the circulating liquid 20 so as to circulate the circulating liquid between the material to be cooled and the cooling tower 14 without causing the circulating liquid 20 to freeze.
