Abstract
PURPOSE:To form a polarized film with excellent optical performance, moisture and heat resistance and dry heat resistance, by adding dichromatic dye to a liquid mixture of a graft copolymer taking polyvinylalchohol as root polymer, and forming film and extending it unidirectionally. CONSTITUTION:100pts.wt. Polyvinylalchohol (50-100% saponified material of polyvinylacetate), about 1-70pts.wt. water insoluble addition polymerization monomer (e.g. ethylene and vinyl benzol etc.), and about 0.05-10pts.wt. water soluble polymerization initiator (e.g. ammonium ceric nitrate) are mixed and they are reacted in water medium to form graft copolymer. About 1-40mg of dichromatic dye per 1g of copolymer is added in the liquid mixture of the said graft copolymer to form film, and the obtained film is extended unidirectionally to 3-7 times to obtain the polarized film.
