Abstract

PURPOSE:To detect a locked-track phenomenon easily with simple constitution by generating a detection signal when the level of the DC component of the error signal of a tracking servo means enters a prescribed range. CONSTITUTION:When a signal which corresponds to a difference in light quantity of light spots 2 and 3 is obtained through photoelectric converting elements 5 and 6, and a differential amplifier 7, the output of the amplifier 7 is an error signal which corresponds to the extent and direction of a shift between a pickup spot and a track 1. The DC component of this tracking error signal is obtained through an LPF12, and a slider motor 13 is driven by the DC component. This DC component, on the other hand, is supplied to a window comparator 41, which outputs a detection signal when the input level enters a prescribed level range. This detection signal is supplied to one input of an AND gate 15, and a signal PLAY or REVERSE is applied to the other input. A locked-track resetting circuit 16 is put in operation by the output of the gate 15 to reset a locked-track state.
