Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve quality of products by regulating the range of jetting of cooling water for a strip after hot finishing rolling and hereby controlling the area of cooling of a strip in the direction of width. CONSTITUTION:A movable gutter 14 is stopped by a cylinder at any position in the direction of width of a strip 10 on a hot run table 11 and cooling water jetted from a nozzle 13 is cut. Cut cooling water is discharged to a pit 19 through a drain hose 18. High pressure air is jetted from air pressure headers 20 fixed at plural positions in longitudinal direction on the lower face of the gutter 14 through an air pressure hose 21 to form air curtains on both sides of the strip 10 in the direction of width. The extent of flow of cooling water jetted only to the central part of the strip 10 is regulated by the air curtains, and the water is flowed to outside in the direction of width of the strip 10 between an adjoining gutter 14, and discharged to the pit 19.
