Abstract
PURPOSE:To enhance measuring accuracy, by using a sampling pump at the final position in a measuring system, making the sampling pump side in a zirconia oxygen concentration sensor to be negative pressure, keeping reference gas at an atmospheric pressure, and increasing the partial pressure ratio of oxygen between the sampling gas and the reference gas. CONSTITUTION:The sample gas in exhausted gas is sucked by a pump 6 from a sampling probe 2 through a capillary tube 3, a catalyst 4, and zirconia sensor 5. Most of the air in an air tank 7 passes through a capillary tube 8 and joins the sample gas. The sample gas and the air join after the passage of respective capillary tubes, and the catalyst 4 completely burns the mixed gas. The atmosphere itself is used as a reference gas in a sensor 5 wherein the concentration of the residual oxygen in said perfectly burnt gas is measured. The measured gas in the sensor 5 is exhausted to the atmosphere by the pump 6. The pump 6 has enough capacity and control the sucking amount of the atmosphere. Thus, the pressure of the gas to be measured in the sensor 5 is kept at a constant negative value with respect to the atmospheric pressure.
