Abstract

CONSTITUTION: The contact surface of a rocker arm 1 or a valve lifter 3 requiring high wear resistance for slidable contact with a cam 2 among the constituent members of the moving valve mechanism of an internal combustion engine is formed with a sintered Fe alloy having a composition consisting of 2W 7% Cr, 0.1W3% V, 0.5W3% C, 0.1W2% P and/or B and the balance Fe with inevitable impurities. The use of this alloy reduces remarkably the wear of each of the cam and an opposite member contacting slidably with the cam and the total wear of them, so the life of the moving valve mechanism can be prolonged.
