Abstract
PURPOSE: A nonasbestos-type adhesive with excellent dispersion stability, obtd. by compounding a soln. of a vinyl acetate polymer in an org. solvent with a combination of calcium carbonate, talc and a thixotropic agent in a specified proportion.
CONSTITUTION: A soln. of a vinyl acetate polymer in an org. solvent is compounded with calcium carbonate, talc and a thixotropic agent in such a proportion that a wt. ratio of calcium carbonate to talc is 9:1W1:9 and the total amount of calcium carbonate and talc is 0.5W10pts.wt. per 100pts.wt. vinyl acetate polymer. The thixotropic agent is fibrous magnesium silicate, an org. montmorillonite composite, fine silica, powdered cellulose, etc. At a proportion of talc lower than said wt. ratio, the filler component is difficultly dispersed again because of precipitation and agglomeration of calcium carbonate in the resulting adhesive composition.
