Abstract
PURPOSE:To reduce the weight and improve the initial capacity and the life characteristic of a lead battery by using electrodes with most of crosspieces of a lattice buried in an active material and with a specific glass mat buried partially and incorporated with the surface of the active material. CONSTITUTION:Most of the crosspieces on one side or both sides of a lattice of this paste type electrodes used as positive or negative electrodes of a paste type lead battery are buried in an active material. Next, a glass mat with a thickness of 0.3mm. or less, which is composed of interwoven glass fibers with a diameter of 20mu or less hardened by hardly or non water soluble plastic of 30% or less by weight attached at least on each intersection, is partially buried and incorporated with said active material. This battery is superior in battery production efficiency and battery performance, and is light in weight by use of the light weight lattice with fine crosspieces arranged sparsely.
