Abstract

PURPOSE:To prepare a thermal transfer recording medium which has a high- adhesion strength and the excellent contamination resistance, by forming a thermal transfer layer, whose main component is two types of resins having a given property and a coloring agent, on a heat resistant base material. CONSTITUTION:10-80wt% resin A, consisting of oil resin, rosin or xylene resin, and having a melting point of 50-130 deg.C, a glass transition point of 45 deg.C or more, a breaking elasticity of 10% or less, and a melting viscocity of 10<2>-10<5> cp at 150 deg.C, 5-50wt% a resin B, consisting of stylenebutadiene rubber, natural rubber, chloroprene rubber, and having a melting point of 80 deg.C or more, and a breaking elasticity of 50% or more, and 2-40wt% a coloring agent are mixed to form a thermal transfer layer 2 on a heat resistant base material 1. As compared with an usual thermal transfer layer using a hot melt type wax, said thermal transfer layer 2 can contain a large amount of the coloring agent, and thereby it can be thinned.
