Abstract

PURPOSE:To provide a titled quick cooling device which is so designed as to prevent the fluctuations in belt temp. by cooling a lower revolving roll with prescribed refrigerant in the case of placing the metallic belt right under a nozzle via the revolving roll. CONSTITUTION:A prescribed alloy is put in a crucible 1, is melted with a high- frequency heater 3, and is maintained at a prescribed temp. Thence, gaseous argon of high pressure is fed into the crucible 1, and is ejected through a small hole nozzle 4 at the bottom end. The molten metal 2 ejecting therethrough is dropped onto a belt 7 in the upper part of a roll 5 revolving at a high speed, whereby it is quickly cooled as a foil strip 10. The lower part of the belt 7 is supported by a lower revolving roll 6 and is in contact with the refrigerant such as liquid nitrogen together with the roll 6.
