Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve the quality of a type by controlling the heating time in response to the accumulation of heat of a thermal head, thereby maintaining approximately the temperature of the head constant. CONSTITUTION:A heating time counter 7 is set to the upper limit value X via a heating time comparator 8 according to a signal line l1 from a mechanism controlling driver 3 at the time of starting a type (and accordingly the dot row of a type line head is heated for the time X). Thereafter, the comparator 5 judges the presence or absence of the dots of a pattern register 4. When no dot is found, the positive value of the addition or subtraction constant N is produced to an adder 6. When the dots are found, the negative value of the constant N is produced to the adder 6. Thus, the value obtained by adding it to the value from a counter 7 is set to the counter 7 (however, when the value obtained from the comparator 8 exceeds the upper limit value X or lower limit value Y, the upper limit value X or lower limit value Y is set to the counter 7).
