Abstract

PURPOSE:To render the surface of a recording layer smooth, high in image quality and durable, by fitting a heat-shrinkable insulating tube around a conductive base drum or the like by a heat shrinkage method, and informing an electrostatic charge retaining member inthis manner, subjecting the inside of said tube to a treatment for raising conductivity. CONSTITUTION:The inside of a heat-shrinkable insulating tube 1 is subjected to a conductivity-raising treatment by spraying method, heat vapor deposition method, or the like to form a conductive layer 7. This tube 1 is covered on a conductive base drum 8, and on being heated, it heat-shrinks, coming into close contact with the drum 8 and forming an electrostatic charge retaining member with a uniform surface. A fluorocarbon type resin, silicone resin, polyester resin, polyvinyl chloride resin, polyethylene resin, or the like is used for the tube 1, and an optional form, such as a drum or belt type, is used as the conductive base. An adhesive may be used in the fitting step.
