PURPOSE:To decrease a frequency of a check on access unaddressed to a segment, by providing an address-check specifying bit in an instruction word and by performing checking operation only when the specifying bit is set. CONSTITUTION:During the generation of instruction words, the address-check specifying bit C of an addressing part INS is set to ''1'' for data access proved to require a check on its address in accessing. Then when the bit C is set to ''0'', the access is advanced by the starting address (a) of data to be accessed. When the bit C is set to ''1'', on the other hand, the address (a) generated by a comparing circuit CMP1 and the starting address (l) of a segment are compared mutually and when a<l, the access is considered to be impossible to generate an error signal. Further, the address (a) and the length L of data to be accessed are added together, and the sum and the ending address (u) of the segment are compared by a comparing circuit CMP2 and when a+L>u, the access is made to be impossible. Thus, the cases of the check is limited.
