Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain a distance up to a target in a simple and low-cost way, by receiving ultrasonic waves by two receivers having different distances from the target and then performing an operation based on the outputs of the two receivers. CONSTITUTION:An ultrasonic oscillator plus two ultrasonic receivers 2 and 3 are installed on a straight line formed by connecting a target and the oscillator 1. Ultrasonic waves are radiated from the oscillator 1, and the difference is detected for the time when the two receivers 2 and 3 receive the ultrasonic waves reflected from the target. These receivers have different distances from the target. Based on the time difference, the speed of the ultrasonic waves is obtained under the environmental conditions during the measurement. Then the distance up to the target is calculated.
