Abstract

PURPOSE: The titled composition, having improved drying resistance in which ink flows to the pen point smoothly even on exposure of the point without a cap for a long time during the storage of a writing utensil, and containing dimethylimidazolidinone.
CONSTITUTION: A composition prepared by incorporating 1,3-dimethyl-2-imidazolidinone expressed by the formula, preferably in amount of 2W20wt% based on the total ink composition, in a general aqueous ink composition obtained by mixing a water-soluble dye, e.g. a direct dye, a preservative, a surfactant etc. with an aqueous solvent containing 5W20wt% water-soluble polyhydric alcohol such as a glycol solvent, e.g. ethylene glycol, a cellosolve solvent, e.g. ethyl cellosolve, and/or a glycol ether ester solvent, e.g. ethylene glycol monomethyl ester acetate in water as a main component.
