Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve the secondary voltage performance of the ignition coil of an internal combustion engine at a high speed, by increasing a current flowing through the ignition coil at the high speed by means of the ignition oil current flowing back through a transistor and a back flow diode. CONSTITUTION:When a positive output of a power coil passes a peak point and begins decreasing, a current flowing through the primary coil 2a of an ignition coil 2 flows back through the primary coil 2a, the collector emitter of a transistor 3 and diodes 4, 5, and decreases gradually. Then, a negative output is generated in a power coil 1, and the current flowing through the primary coil 2a becomes the sum of a current from the power source 1 and the flow back current. Next at an ignition time, the output of a signal generator 15, is impressed on the gate of a thyristor 10, the thyristor 10 is continued, a high voltage is induced in the secondary coil 12b of the ignition coil 2, and an igniting spark is generated on a spark plug 18.
