Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain dental amalgam with enhanced corrosion resistance, etc. by adding a very small amount of a rare earth metal to Ag-Sn amalgam.
CONSTITUTION: La, Y, Sc, Ge or the like is utilized as the rare earth metal. The rare earth metal content of the amalgam is regulated to 1W10%. Thus, the ratio of alloy particles to Hg can be adjusted to 1:1 to reduce the amount of Hg, and very favorable results are produced with respect to wear resistance, corrosion resistance, strength, expandability and hardenability.
