Abstract
PURPOSE:To raise a dimensional precision of an intermetallic compound magnet and to enable an automation by a method wherein a magnetic powder of a specific intermetallic compound is filled in a mould, and the pressure applying direction is made approximately at the right angle to the direction of the magnetic field and then, it is formed in the magnetic field. CONSTITUTION:A binder is added to a magnetic powder of a R2TM17 intermetallic compound of a rare earth metal (R) and a transition metal (TM) and anisotropy is given to this mixture in one time magnetic field forming to form a desired shape, and then, it is made into a finished product only by heating and hardening of a binder. The direction of a magnetic field and the pressure applying direction are made approximately at the right angle to each other and contraction after sintering is reduced. For a R2TM17 mold, a material such as Sm(Co0.7Cu0.08Fe0.2 Zr0.02)8.3, etc. is used and a binder is made to contain less than 0.3-6wt% of organic resin to raise a magnetic performance. An orientation magnetic field is made 15KOe or more and a molding pressure is made 5ton/cm<2> or more. By performing in this way, the dimensional precision of a magnet can be improved and an automation can be performed.
