Abstract
PURPOSE: To decrease the number of elements of menory cells by enabling data to be fetched from the memory cells of the respective picture elements of a liquid crystal display device which performs dot matrix displaying.
CONSTITUTION: At the time of writing display data into the memory cells of a matrix liquid crystal display device, select lines 1 are kept at H and the data on signal lines 2 are written into the gate of an inverter 7 through a transmission gate 6. Next, when the writing ends, the select lines 1 fall to L, and the transmission gate 9 goes ON, so that the data are latched in the circuits of inverters 7 and 8. The signal of an ON signal line 12 or the signal of an OFF signal line 13 is selected 10, 11 by these latched signals and is applied to liquid crystal 5. At the reading- out of the data, the signal lines 2 are held floating, and the select signal lines 24 are kept at H, thence the data of memory cells 7, 8 are transmitted onto the signal lines 2 through a transmission gate 23.
