Abstract

PURPOSE:To form a sump in a clearance and prevent oil leakage by limiting to less than 0.5mm. a clearance between the external circumference of a washer and the internal circumference of a bearing frame. CONSTITUTION:A washer 24 is pressed into the external circumference of an axis 14 in the neighborhood of the lower side end surface of the bearing 16 supporting an axis whose core is vertical. Washer 26 won't move in an axial direction on account of a C-ring retainer 28. The washer 24 has a minute clearance between itself and the lower end surface of the bearing 16. The clearance between the external circumference of the washer 24 and the internal circumference of a bearing frame 18 is set less than 0.5mm. wide. During operation, lubricant flowing out of the bearing 16 tends to pass through a clearance between the external circumference of the washer 24 and the internal circumference of the bearing frame 18 and drop. However, due to the clearance of less then 0.5mm., the lubricant forms an oil curtain in that clearance part.
