Abstract
PURPOSE:To remove impurities advantageously by performing the processes of subjecting molten iron to light decarbonization, desiliconization, and dephosphorization simultaneously under the supply of an oxidative gas, within a bottom blown converter or resembling blown vessel. CONSTITUTION:After blast furnace molten iron is charged into a Q-BOP furnace, a desulfurizing agent ground to <=100 meshes is blown through the furnace bottom tuyere with a pure oxygen gas as a carrier gas. In this treatment, C is controlled to about 1-3%, Si to a trace, Mn to about 0.2% and P to about 0.02-0.05%. Thence, the molten iron is charged into an LD converter or Q-BOP furnace, where it is subjected to decarburization alone. Thereby, the removal of phosphorus and silicone is accomplished simultaneously with light decarbonization.
