Abstract
PURPOSE: To simplify data processing and at the same time reduce the processing time, by recording previously the information of the position a record occupies in a track into the count region of each record on the track and then deciding whether the record to be recorded newly can be written or not based on the above-mentioned position information.
CONSTITUTION: When a request is newly given to the record of R(n+1), the record/reproduction head is set at the track T1. Then the count region C is detected to search the region C of the final record Rn on the track T1, and thus the position informtion, i.e., the residual length (n) which can be recorded on the track T1 is read out. A comparison is given between the (n) and the length of the record R(n+1) which is recorded newly, and the recording is impossible for the entire R(n+1) on the track T1 in the case of R(N+1)>n. Accordingly, the record is divided into two parts; the 1st record segment which can be recorded on the track T1 and the 2nd record segment to be recorded on the track T2, then an editing is carried out again for writing.
