Abstract
PURPOSE:To make the bottom face of a ring groove and the undersurface of a piston ring to facially connect for preventing gas blow by forming a taper face corresponding to the helix deformation of the piston ring in the same direction as the helix deformation on the bottom surface of the ring groove. CONSTITUTION:In a piston mounted with an upper face taper-type piston ring 6 on the ring groove 5 a taper face 9 with an angle beta corresponding to the helix deformation (having radially a helix angle alpha) of the piston ring 6 is formed in the same direction as the helix deformation of the piston ring 6. The taper angle beta is an angle wherein beta alpha and as a result thereof the under surface 8 of the piston ring 6 and the bottom face of the ring groove are completely facially connected. Thereby the gas blow by can be prevented, while the heat of the piston 1 is efficiently conducted to the piston ring 6 to be set free to the side of the cylinder 4.
