Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve the efficiency of coupling by providing such a reflection surface by which reflected light is directed to the end of optical fibers around a light emitting element. CONSTITUTION:An optical fiber 1, a light emitting chip 2 of a light emitting element, electrodes 3 and a conductor 4 are provided, and the light emitting element and the optical fiber 1 are coupled in one body in a proximate state within a transparent resin 5. The surface of this resin 5 is made to a mirror surface and is worked to a perfect reflection surface 6. This perfect reflection surface 6 is achieved by using techniques such as vacuum deposition. This causes the light from the light emitting chip 2 to be sealed in the resin 5 by the perfect reflection surface 6 and cause part thereof to enter the optical fiber 1 while repeating reflections such as the ones shown by arrows; in the end, the greater part of the light of the light emitting chip 2 is entered and is transmitted to the optical fiber 1.
