Abstract
PURPOSE: The reaction of an arenesulfonylguanine nucleoside with a sulfide such as hydrogen sulfide gives the titled compound used as an antitumorigenic agent with industrial advantage.
CONSTITUTION: A 6-alkylsulfonyl or arenesulfonylguanine nucleoside of formula I [R1 is H, protecting group; R'2WR'5 are H, hydroxyl bearing protecting groups (where the cases are excluded where both combinations of R'2, R'3 and R'4, R'5 are hydroxyls bearing protecting groups); R'6 is hydroxyl bearing a protecting group; R7 is alkylsulfonyl, alkylenesulfonyl] is made to react with a sulfide such as hydrogen sulfide, sodium hydrosulfide or alkali metal sulfide to produce the objective compound of formula II [R2WR5 are H, hydroxyl bearing protecting group (where, when one combination of R2, R3 and R4, R5 is hydroxyl bearing protecting group, the other is H); R6 is hydroxyl bearing protecting group].
