Abstract
PURPOSE: To facilitate manufacturing of an intake silencer including an intake passage and a resonance chamber and to lower the manufacturing costs, by constructing both of the intake passage and the resonance chamber in a split type so that their divided parts can be united together by way of butt joining.
CONSTITUTION: An intake silencer 7 is constructed to be dividable into two parts, i.e., an upper piece 12 and a lower piece 13. The upper piece 12 is provided with an intake passage 14 and a resonance chamber 15, and a port 16 is formed in partition wall 15a of the resonance chamber 15. Further, the resonance chamber 15 is shaped to have a square cross section, and the intake passage 14 is located at a corner portion of the chamber 15. On the other hand, the lower piece 13 is constructed in the same way. These two pieces 12, 13 are coupled together by way of butt joining. In case that the above silencer 7 is applied in an enclosed type motor compressor, coolant gas introduced from an inlet port 6 is once filled in a chamber 4 and then supplied to the compressor via the intake silencer.
