Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain iron-base sintered parts with considerably enhanced heat resistance as compared to conventional iron-base sintered parts made of sintered iron alloy by adding a predetermined percentage of nitride to a sintered iron alloy followed by sintering.
CONSTITUTION: The titled iron-base sintered parts are obtd. by adding 5W40, preferably 7W25vol% Cr2N, BN or other nitride to a sintered iron alloy such as sintered stainless steel followed by sintering. The parts are manufactured as follows: sintered iron alloy powder and nitride powder are mixed in a predetermined ratio, compacted into a predetermined form, and sintered in a nonoxidizing atmosphere of N2 gas, inert gas or the like. The sintered parts can be used well at 1,200°C without lowering the mechanical strength.
