Abstract

PURPOSE: The titled composition which is an antimicrobial agent, capable of giving a solution of high concentration and storable for a long time without foaming which a stable state of iodine, and containing available iodine from iodine dissolved in water by using an amino acid and a water-soluble iodide as solubilizing agents.
CONSTITUTION: An iodophor composition prepared by dissolving iodine in water with an amino acid, e.g. glycine or alanine, and a water-soluble iodide, e.g. hydriodic acid or potassium iodide, as solubilizing agents and further an acid, e.g. phosphoric or citric acid. The contents of the components in the composition are 0.2W15wt% amino acid, 0.5W20.0wt% water-soluble iodide, 1.0W20.0wt% iodine, 1.0W20.0wt% phosphoric acid, citric acid, etc. and water in an amount to make the total 100wt%.
