Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide a foamed material of the subject with weight and strength comparable favorably with those of natural wood by fusing sheet form fiber materials including thermoplastic resin on both sides of a plate-shaped thermoplastic resin foamed object in which many long fibers are distributed and buried in one direction and uniting them.
CONSTITUTION: By dipping bundles of long fibers such as glass fibers in a thermoplastic resin emulsion including a foaming agent, drying them and bundling them, a plate-shaped thermoplastic resin foamed material in which about 10W50wt% of the long fibers is buried is obtained. On the other hand, said thermoplastic resin or another thermoplastic resin fusible with it is included into a sheet-shaped fiber material such as glass paper preferably to about 70wt%. Next, by sandwiching said plate-shaped thermoplastic resin formad material with these resin including sheet- formed fiber materils, pressing them under heat to unite them and then cooling them, a composite foamed material of the subject can be obtained.
