Abstract
PURPOSE:To rapidly and easily polish and regenerate a blade having an intricate edge line used for blanking of printed matter etc. by forming a protection film on the nonpolishing surface of the blade edge, dipping the blade into an electrolytic polishing bath and dissolution-polishing the blade edge. CONSTITUTION:The dulled part X of the edge 2 of a blade 1 is exposed and a protecting film 7 is formed on the nonpolishing surface (a) side on the back of the edge 2. This blade 1 is dipped in an electrolytic polishing bath 6 contg. phosphoric acid etc., thence, anode of a DC power source E is connected to the blade 1 and cathode to a cathode plate 4. Electrolytic polishing is then performed for predetermined time at 0.1-1A/dm<2> current densities. With this treatment, the blade edge 2 is eliminated of minute ruggedness such as nicking and exposes a sharp edge 2. Even the limited part of the intricately shaped blade edge may be easily and surely polished and regenerated by this method.
