Abstract

PURPOSE: To increase rigidity of a bearing and to improve its performance, by urging a shaft onto a hydrostatic bearing section by means of a resilient means.
CONSTITUTION: A groove 13, oil supply port 14, orifice 15, and oil discharge port 16 are formed in a bearing member 11, so that a hydrostatic bearing section is provided between a shaft 10 and the bearing member 11. A slidable member 17 is fitted in the bearing member 11 in freely slidable manner at the portion thereof located on the opposite side of a pocket 12 formed in the bearing member 11. This slidable member 17 is urged toward shaft 10 by a compression spring 20 retained in place by a plate 19 which is fixed to the bearing member 11 by bolts 18. With such an arrangement, when hydraulic oil is supplied to oil supply port 14, a force is exerted in a direction for detaching the shaft 10 and bearing member 11 away from each other, so that clearances 22 are formed between the shaft 10 and lands 21 formed on both sides of pocket 12 of bearing member 11.
