Abstract

PURPOSE:To prepare a cosmetic mild to the skin and the hair, giving excellent moistness and moisture retainability to the skin, etc., and having excellent shape stability, by compounding a 2-pyrrolidone-5-carboxylic acid basic amino acid salt to a substrate. CONSTITUTION:A basic amino acid salt of 2-pyrrolidone-5-carboxylic acid (PCA) is compounded to a cosmetic substrate to obtain a cosmetic composition. The PCA basic amino acid salt has higher moisture retainability than Na- or triethanolamine salt of PCA, and gives excellent moistness, feeling to the skin, etc., and shape stability compared with polyhydric alcohols. The basic amino acid used in the PCA basic amino acid salt is e.g. lysine, arginine, etc. The cosmetic composition is suitable especially to beauty wash, cream and hair cream for improving the moisture retainability of the skin or the hair.
