Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent pattern out-of-focus from occuring by elongating long the scanning light spot in a subscanning direction with a cylindrical lens and correcting the out-of-focus of the light spot with a slit spacing by a microdistance from a photosensitive medium.
CONSTITUTION: The modulating luminous flux through a light modulator 2 etc. is elongated long in a subscanning direction normal to the main scanning direction by a cylindrical lens 4, and is imaged on a photosensitive medium 7 through a slit 8 via a rotary polyhedral mirror 5 and a scanning lens 6. This slit 8 is spaced by a required microdistance from the medium 7 so that the out-of-focus width of the image of the slit 8 on the medium 7 owing to interference becomes small and the scanning luminous flux elongated in the subscanning direction is obtained, thus the occurrence of the image out-of-focus at the end part of the slit 8 and pattern out- of-focus is prevented without any effect of the inclination etc. of the mirror faces of the polyhedral mirror 5.
